About Us
QuIPP therapists are queer, POC, feminist, and allies. We understand how difficult it is to find a therapist who “gets you” in all your shades of color and the complexity this world creates for you.
Our therapists know the basics of what it means to be “other,” queer, kinky, poly, spiritual, religious & queer, and systemically-oppressed. So, you won’t have to waste time explaining why your pronouns must be respected, what a polycule is, or why you panic when you see police.
Christie Crawford, PhD
Christie is a doctor of mental health counseling and is licensed in the state of New York. She (she/her) believes, first and foremost, in building a safe and comfortable rapport with all clients. She is honored to accompany others on their therapeutic journey, particularly with substance abuse and trauma-related treatment.
Christie resides in Westchester, NY with her (human and four-legged) family, and feels most at peace with the ocean in front of her, and sand under her toes.
Kai Coca, MSW
Kai is a mental health counselor who just received their master’s degree from Teacher’s College. They spent the last year working at a nonprofit clinic in the Bronx focusing on LGBTQ and adolescent clients with a wide range of mental health concerns.
Kai enjoys sewing, soap-making, finding new activities to try with their poodle, and spending time with their chosen family.
H.L. “Lou” Himes, PsyD
Lou is a licensed clinical psychologist in New York state. They (them/theirs) are the founder of, and head administrator for, the Queer Identities Psychology Partnership (QuIPP). Lou is no longer taking on new clients, but they supervise, consult, and provide education around transgender and trauma-related treatment both within and outside of QuIPP.
Like many trans-masc folks, Lou is not as young as they look. They live near Ithaca, NY with their chosen family and enjoy DIY projects on their 1800’s farm house, swimming in natural bodies of water, kayaking, gardening, mushroom hunting, and trying to tame the wild beast that is their minpin-chihuahua mix (they never will!).
